From Kate's bench

This one is made on Kate's own bench in Eccleshall: cut, stitched and finished by hand, ten stitches to the inch.

About this piece

These beautiful browbands are completely made and hand-stitched in our workshop.

We only use real-glass, lead-free, high-quality clear and coloured crystals, natural gemstones and gold- or rhodium-plated spacers.

Each bead is attached using two threads. Each bead is individually hand-stitched on using a locking stitch so that should the browband get damaged you don't lose all the beads.

The trough the beads are recessed into is lined with a corresponding metallic backing leather that really brings out the sparkle and colours.

All of this luxury is framed in finest hand-sewn English bridle leather, available in black or havana. If your browband needs to match a different shade of brown, please contact us as we have many shades in stock.

You can choose a traditional straight or curved shape.

There are normally roughly 85 beads in a brow-band, alternating one or two colours, a clear crystal and a spacer. However, the choice is yours: over 36 colours, plus cube beads and pearls - the options are endless.

When you place your order, you can specify the colour combination of your choice, and we will respond with photographs of example options for you to choose from.

Please note:

the price varies depending on the length of the browband. The base price applies from 15" to 17", with a slight surcharge for 18" to 20". Other sizes can be made specially for you, just contact us.

Sizing and fit

Bridlework comes in Pony, Cob, Full and Extra Full. Not sure which? Measure your horse's current bridle from buckle hole to buckle hole and send Kate the numbers. Browbands are measured end to end, between the loops.

Looking after it

Wipe off mud and sweat with a damp cloth, let it dry naturally away from heat, then feed with a good leather balsam. Kate uses and stocks Jeffries leathercare. Leather looked after this way lasts for decades.

Free UK second-class delivery on everything. If you need something by a certain date, get in touch before ordering and Kate will arrange faster postage. Made-to-order and made-to-measure pieces are made for you, so Kate will confirm timings when you order. Overseas orders are welcome: ask for a postage quote.
